Brainback is one person, independently funded, and has not launched. There are no roles to apply for today — and until there are, this page is not going to pretend otherwise.
Nine full-time roles, salary bands up to $400k, equity percentages, and a five-stage interview loop involving founders, two reviewing engineers and future teammates. None of it existed. A sole proprietorship has no equity to grant, and nobody was ever going to read those applications.
It is written here rather than quietly deleted because a take-home for an imaginary job costs a real person a real weekend — and because a product whose whole premise is refusing the convenient answer should hold itself to that first.
Not a promise of a job. A description of the standard the next version of this page has to meet.
A specific surface with a specific problem, posted with the band it actually pays. No listing goes up before the money to fund it exists.
A written application, one conversation, and a small paid piece of real work. Not five stages with people who do not work here yet.
Whoever joins will get asked to weaken the product for a short-term gain, and will have to say no. That part was true when this page was fiction, and it stays.
Decisions here are written down before they are built — the reasoning behind every change is in DECISIONS.md, at length. Someone who finds writing exhausting would not enjoy it.
Write to hello@brainback.chat with what you build and what you would want to own. It goes to the person building this, because there is nobody else for it to go to. No pipeline, no applicant tracker, no automated reply — just a note that gets read, and an answer when there is something to answer with.
If you would rather judge the work than the pitch: the changelog is every release that has actually shipped, the roadmap marks what has not, and /company/story is the argument the whole thing is built on.
