Brainback is a Socratic tutor built for classrooms: attempt-gated, hint-laddered, answer-refusing. Educators get a content-blind dashboard — you see whether students showed up and where they’re stuck, never their attempts or the tutor’s replies.
No onboarding fee, no setup cost, no integration charge. What you pay is the seat price multiplied by the seats, and the calculator below does that multiplication so you do not have to.
$6 per student per year, billed annually, locked for the length of the term. Seats added mid-year are prorated at true-up; unused seats do not roll over.

Set your email domain for auto-join, or send invites, or post a join link in your LMS — whichever suits. Educators create groups, set assignments and watch the aggregates. First attempts the same day; there is nothing to install.

Group-level: days active, sessions closed, Brain score distribution, and the concepts the cohort got stuck on. Never a student’s work. You decide from that whether it converts.
Here is the honest answer to each, including the three where the answer is no. We have not run dozens of these — Brainback has no institutional customers yet, and a page claiming the practised confidence of a vendor who does would be the first thing a reviewer catches.

No SOC 2 and no third-party penetration test. What we can send: our threat model, the application self-audit behind it, and the remediation list it produced. Any questionnaire you send gets answered honestly, including the rows where the answer is no.
Built to FERPA and COPPA expectations, GDPR/PIPEDA-aware. No AI training on student work, and Anthropic does not train on API traffic — though we hold no zero-retention agreement with them, which /legal/privacy states plainly.
Email invite or a join link, and an organisation can auto-admit a verified email domain. No SAML, no LTI, no SIS roster sync today — if one of those is a hard requirement, say so before we go further rather than after.
Group-level aggregates only, never student content, enforced by row-level security rather than by the interface. See /trust/privacy for the mechanism.
You get the person who wrote it, by email, same day in North American hours. No CSM, no ticket queue, no tier one. That is a real advantage at pilot scale and a real limit above it.
Three things work today and four do not, and the table says which is which. If LTI launch or SIS roster sync is a hard requirement for your deployment, we would rather you knew that here than three weeks into an implementation window.

Match your @school.edu domain and students land in the right organisation on first sign-in. Not SSO — sign-in is still a magic link or Google — but it removes the invite step.
Give you per-student attempt content. Grade your students’ homework for you. Touch your LMS gradebook — there is no LTI launch and no write-back of any kind. Replace your instructor’s judgment on which students need intervention. The first, second and fourth are deliberate refusals; the third is simply not built. If you need any of them, the tool for the job is somewhere other than Brainback.
The attempt gate is enforced in the API, not asked for in a prompt. A student cannot skip it, and neither can we.
