Wolfram is an incredible reference. Brainback is where you learn. They coexist naturally: use Wolfram to check your final answer once you've completed the Brainback workflow. Never use it as a replacement for the reasoning practice itself.

The typical Wolfram misuse is 'get the step-by-step, treat as learning'. Reading a step-by-step is not the same cognitive act as producing one. The recall memory research is unambiguous — retrieval builds durable memory; recognition does not. Wolfram is recognition.

Wolfram Pro is $7.25/mo (student). Brainback is $9.99/mo. If you can only afford one, we would tell you to use free-tier Wolfram and paid-tier Brainback for exactly six months, and then re-evaluate. The reasoning practice compounds; the compute doesn't.

Does Brainback do LaTeX and equations properly?

Yes, native KaTeX rendering everywhere. Type inline LaTeX in your attempts; the tutor reads and renders correctly. Complex integrals, matrix ops, tensor notation — all fine.

Can Brainback plot graphs?

Not currently. That's Wolfram/Desmos territory. We may add limited plotting for pedagogical purposes later — but replacing a general plotting engine is not our goal.

What about Wolfram's step-by-step for chemistry / physics?

Same recommendation. Use Brainback for the reasoning practice; Wolfram for verification. The step-by-step in Wolfram Physics is impressive but produces the same recognition-vs-recall gap.

Which subjects does the Brainback tutor cover?

Every discipline: math, physics, chemistry, biology, econ, CS, philosophy, history, writing, foreign language. Wolfram is strongest at math and physical sciences; Brainback covers the humanities and writing too.

Can I use both in the same problem?
