Brainback
trust · integrity

Compatible with your school's honor code — by design.

Because we never give you the answer, using Brainback for coursework doesn't produce a substituted deliverable. What you submit is yours.

what brainback does · doesn't

Two lists that draw the line.

what we produce
  • Guiding questions
  • Hints (five-rung ladder)
  • Diagnoses of your errors
  • Rephrased spaced-recall cards
  • Explain-back grades

All coaching artifacts. Not deliverables.

what we don't
  • Completed proofs
  • Fully worked solutions (until you've earned Reveal)
  • Finished essay paragraphs
  • Code that solves your homework
  • Substituted deliverables of any kind

The tutor is server-locked against these.

The design premise

Every academic-integrity policy we’ve read shares a common core: work you submit must be your own. Brainback is designed to make this true. We do not produce completed proofs, worked solutions (until you’ve earned Reveal), essay paragraphs, or code that solves your homework. Everything you submit after using Brainback is your production, coached — not our production, delivered.

The Reveal edge case

The Reveal surface does produce a worked solution — but only after you’ve exhausted the hint ladder AND submitted a written reflection. If your school’s policy considers “reading an example worked solution” out of bounds for a specific class, don’t use Reveal in that class. Do everything else.

Talk to your instructor

When in doubt, share our design with your instructor. Our stance is transparent; most instructors we’ve talked to end up recommending Brainback specifically because it protects their assignment’s purpose.

Institutional stance

For institutional pilots, our stance is that Brainback is compatible with all mainstream US and EU university honor codes we’ve seen. Full memo available on request to edu@brainback.app.
